After intensive planning, the construction of the new road section for the re-development of the Niderental valley in Schwanden will start on 4 May 2026.

The Sernftalbahn Museum in Elm will start its 2026 season on the weekend of 2/3 May 2026. The exhibition ‘A mountain valley in motion’ in the station building and goods shed is looking freshly renovated. The attractions on the station grounds include the original SeTB passenger and goods carriages and the popular garden railway for ‘young and old’. The Sernftalbahn Association will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

The ‘Braunwald Drainage Project 2025-2030’ is gaining momentum. A specially constructed material ropeway is the heart of the entire construction site logistics.

With Urban Golf Glarus, there will be a new leisure activity for the population from 1 May 2026: active, surprising and lots of fun. Anyone who is in the mood for exercise and a special city experience will pick up a golf club in the future and discover Glarus in a new way.

The end of the traditional fresh produce market on the town hall square has left a noticeable gap in the centre of Glarus. For over 20 years, the Jud family of farmers from Benken had been offering fresh produce every Saturday, thus shaping the weekend scene. Since December 2025, the square will be empty – at least as far as regional fresh produce is concerned.
