The Näfels procession is held every year in April to commemorate the Battle of Näfels in 1388, in which the people of Glarus defeated a superior Habsburg army. The traditional procession visits historic sites and combines history, remembrance and cantonal identity. For those who want to delve even deeper, an artillery tour offers the chance to discover exciting military-historical background information and to learn more about tactics, weapons and events surrounding the battle.
