Glarus Landsgemeinde on Sunday, 3 May 2026

Once a year, Glarus becomes the stage for direct democracy – real, loud and incredibly lively. On the first Sunday in May, the people of Glarus meet on the Zaunplatz to ‘reduce and increase,’ to discuss and vote – by hand gestures, just like in the old days.

Come and experience this unique spectacle of tradition, community and history. The Landsgemeinde is not just about politics; it is about the beating of hearts, togetherness and pure Glarus pride. And if you’re already there, why not stay for a few more days – the canton of Glarus has many more stories to tell.
