Once a year, Glarus becomes the stage for direct democracy – vibrant, lively and full of energy. On the first Sunday in May, the people of Glarus meet on the Zaunplatz to ‘reduce and increase,’ to discuss and vote – by hand gestures, just like in the old days.
Come and experience this unique spectacle of tradition, community and history. The Landsgemeinde is not just about politics; it is also about community, tradition and Glarus pride. And while you're there, why not stay for a few more days? The canton of Glarus has many more stories to tell.
