The end of the traditional fresh produce market on the town hall square has left a noticeable gap in the centre of Glarus. For over 20 years, the Jud family of farmers from Benken had been offering fresh produce every Saturday, thus shaping the weekend scene. Since December 2025, the square will be empty – at least as far as regional fresh produce is concerned.

The fascinating natural spectacle around the legendary Martinsloch is about to happen again. On Friday, 13th and Saturday, 14th March 2026, the sun shines through the natural rock window directly onto the church spire of Elm.
