The Migros Ski Day attracts around 1,000 people to Braunwald
Last Sunday, in fantastic weather, almost 240 families took part in the popular Migros Ski Day in Braunwald in the canton of Glarus. They competed in a fun race and enjoyed an unforgettable day in the snow.
234 families did not want to miss the Migros Ski Day this year, which took place on Sunday, 2 March 2025, in Braunwald. The focus was on fun, and the participating families were able to create unforgettable memories in the sunshine and perfect conditions. ‘It was simply a dream day,’ enthused the organisers of the Snow Sports School Braunwald, Silvia Blatter and Reto Glarner, who organised the event in collaboration with Swiss-Ski and the Braunwald Ski Lifts.
Fun races and much more
The fun races provided the opportunity to compete against other family teams. The participants were at the starting line at the early hours of the morning, in groups of three, four or five, and they all raced as a team around the set gates on the Mattwald slope – with the Pally family from Aristau finding the fastest route. They were closely followed by the Tremp family from Schänis and the Peyer family from Küsnacht ZH. The families had a lot to experience not only on the slopes, but also in the village. The sponsors Migros and Rivella, the organiser Swiss-Ski and VISIT Glarnerland were all present in the Migros Ski Day Village, where they organised competitions and activities to keep the fun going.
Mascot visits the village
The Braunwald mascot, the dwarf Bartli, was also a must-see, as he took photos with young and old alike. The circus clown Ischa from Mugg in Betschwanden also provided entertainment, loudly cheering on the families at the start, then tackling the slope at the end with dozens of children and providing plenty of laughs at the awards ceremony in the afternoon. All the extras were provided free of charge to the participating families. For just CHF 95, members of Swiss-Ski or Famigros could ski or snowboard for a day, take part in the fun races, enjoy a hot lunch and take home some souvenirs. Non-members paid CHF 120 for the unforgettable day of fun on the snow.
Across Switzerland
Over the course of the winter, 18 event days will be held in 14 different destinations across Switzerland. All of these destinations are among the most family-friendly ski areas in Switzerland and offer the ideal conditions for a fun-packed day on the slopes.
