Cheese stalls and festival food throughout the village: The 30th Alpine Cheese and Schabziger Fair will take place on Sunday, 5 October 2025 – already for the fifth time in the idyllic village centre of Elm.

Between Sandgasse and Säge, the mountain farmers will be presenting their cheese wheels and other Alpine products on Sunday, 5 October, which they have produced with great care over the summer on the many beautiful Glarus Alps. The 30th Glarus Alpine Cheese and Schabziger Market will again take place in the village centre of Elm this year, which will allow the local gastronomy and trade to be involved.

From mountain farmer breakfast to Alpine descent

The range of activities will stretch from mountain farmer breakfast to Alpine descent. In between, there will be market stalls for tasting and shopping, traditional alphorn and chanter music, a yodeller’s mass in Elm church, the Cheese Pass raffle and a lot of delicious and regional food for the stomach. There will also be a varied programme for children, and the highlight and finale will be the Alpine descent, which will also take place through the village, with the beautifully decorated cows to admire.

Enjoy culinary and regional delicacies

The range of activities is diverse and it is worth visiting the various festival restaurants, restaurants and stalls with their specialities. Mountain farmer breakfast, various mountain farmer menus with Zigerhöräli or Älplermagronen, raclette and fondue, fenz, sausages, Zigerbrüüt, Glarus net roast with potato and vegetable dumplings, and much more can be enjoyed. All this will be accompanied by musical entertainment

Raffle for the main prize of the Cheese Pass

20 Alps in one summer: Those who have wandered the Alps in the canton with the Cheese Pass have discovered many beautiful places. The main prizes for the Glarus Cheese Pass will be drawn at 1.45 p.m. by Agrotourismus Glarnerland. The prize is a whole wheel of cheese.
