Project Vreni-Schneider-Museum in the village centre of Elm

In Elm, the hometown of the Swiss century-sportswoman Vreni Schneider, a unique museum is being created that will show more than just sporting successes: it will be a place of motivation, mental strength and perseverance – in line with the motto: ‘Where there is a will, there is a way.’

The platform around Vreni Schneider is intended to make her impressive career as a world-class sportswoman tangible and to inspire young people in particular to develop mental strength and personal qualities

The Vreni Schneider Museum will be located in the heart of the village of Elm, surrounded by a culturally and historically rich environment, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Tectonic Arena Sardona with the famous Martinsloch, as well as the tradition of slate mining. The new meeting place is intended to combine these existing elements with the impressive life story of one of Switzerland’s greatest female athletes.

Interactive exhibitions, workshops and lectures are planned, which will attract visitors to Elm throughout the year. The museum will not only celebrate Vreni Schneider’s sporting triumphs, but will also explore topics such as mental training, motivation and goal-setting, in close collaboration with Vreni Schneider herself.

The project is being carried out by the Elm Holiday Region Association, which will ensure that the museum is firmly established as a cultural and tourist highlight for Elm, the Glarus region and beyond.

Sponsors and patrons are being sought to help realise the project. Patronships are already available from CHF 200 per year – a valuable contribution to the development and maintenance of this special place.

The Vreni Schneider Museum aims to inspire, enthuse and show what can be achieved with determination – for young and old, for sports enthusiasts and for anyone who wants to embark on their own journey towards their goals.
