Consciously hiking in the Alpine regions
This summer, the Glarus Cheese Pass will again take visitors to 20 Glarus mountain pastures, and it is possible to visit 5, 7 (family tour), 10, 15 or even all 20 of the cheese pass mountain pastures. In the valley, visitors will receive a piece of fine AOP Glarus Alpine cheese when they hand in their stamp card, and the prizes will be awarded at the final draw at the Alpine Cheese and Schabziger Market in Elm on Sunday, 5 October.
The Glarus Cheese Pass takes you to the vast and impressive landscapes of the Glarus Alps, which the Alp teams maintain with their work every summer and from which they produce fine products. The self-stamping stamp box is always waiting for the Cheese Pass hikers at the Alp hut, and so the pass fills up with ‘naa dis naa,’ along with impressive moments in nature.
Mountain & Valley – a cycle
The Glarus region is vast, with a total of 88 Alps that lie like a string of pearls in the heights around the Glarus region. The work with the animals is a daily routine. While the animals are grazing on the Alps in the Glarus region, the hay is being brought in from the valley for the winter. The Alp teams maintain our mountain landscape with their Alp farming and produce a fine natural product on almost half of all the Alps, which we can enjoy in the valley: the fine Alp cheese. A sustainable cycle.
Climb up
Climb the Glarus Alps and immerse yourself in unique worlds. If you prefer to travel on two wheels, you can cover certain sections on an e-bike – otherwise, hiking and enjoying the scenery are the order of the day. If you visit all 20 Glarus cheese pass Alps and your pass card falls into the hands of the lucky charm at the Alpchäs and Schabzigermärt in Elm, you will win a whole wheel of Glarus Alpkäse AOP, sponsored by the Glarus Cheese Cooperative in Glarus, as well as the carved souvenir with all the names of the Alps, which is unique, plus an overnight stay with an experience cheese tasting on the Mittler and Ober Nüen Alp. There are also other great category prizes for the family tour with 5 or 7 Alps or for those with 10 or 15 Alps.
The Glarus Cheese Pass 2025 is available at info@glarnerland.ch and at the cheese specialists Gössi in Glarus, the grünen Kuh in Schwanden or at the guest information offices in the Glarus region.
