Behind the scenes: VISIT Glarnerland launches the ‘Industrial Espionage’ 2026
Schwanden, 09 February 2026 – The popular VISIT Glarusland ‘Industrial Espionage’ event series is starting a new season. With a total of 17 participating companies and a new addition from the energy sector, the 2026 programme offers fascinating insights into the innovative power and tradition of the Glarus economy.
For years, the ‘industrial espionage’ concept has been a source of fascination for locals and visitors alike. The format offers exclusive guided tours of selected companies, providing a first-hand experience of the diversity of the regional economy. The range of activities includes culinary workshops and major technical projects.
Premiere for tb.glarus at the Luchsingen power station
A highlight of this year’s programme is the new addition of the technical companies of Glarus (tb.glarus). Interested ‘spies’ will gain insights into the production of around 22.5 gigawatt hours of renewable electricity at the Luchsingen hydroelectric power station. This energy supplies around 5,500 households and makes a significant contribution to the region’s security of supply. A special highlight is the journey to the power station, which will be made in style on the aerial cable car.
A mix of innovation and tradition
In addition to new partners, tried and tested classics will also be part of the programme:
- GESKA AG: Insights into the production of the world-famous Glarus Schabziger cheese.
- Schätti AG Metallwarenfabrik: Here visitors will learn how the cult espresso machine ‘Cremina’ from Olympia Express is made.
Industriespionage bridges the gap between the early industrialisation of the canton and modern high-tech industry. It thus offers a varied cultural and leisure programme for children and adults – also an ideal option for rainy days.
