Waldreservat Grappli-, Rautiwald, Rosslöcher
The largest forest reserve and the most beautiful hunting ban area in the canton of Glarus.
An impressive scenery surrounds the Grappli-, Rautiwald and Rosslöcher forest reserve. Large boulders bear witness to earlier landslides and glaciations. The turbulent landscape is only home to those who can withstand extreme conditions. Like the structurally rich boulder-rubble-fir-spruce forest or the gnarled mountain pine forest on bare rock. A special feature of the forest reserve is the isolated pine population; today only a relic of its maximum extent after the last glacial period.
Experience the forest reserve
The forest reserve can be explored on foot from the Obersee car park in seven hours. The circular trail leads via Grapplialp to the Rautispitz at 2283 m above sea level and via the Rautialp back to the Obersee. The trail is usually accessible between the end of June and October.
