Trietolt Magenträs

Since the 16th century at the latest, spiced sugar has been used in Switzerland less to sweeten dishes and more as a medicine, because of its alleged digestive and stimulating effects. The common name Magenträs (stomach powder, laxative) still reminds us of this today.
"Sugar, sandalwood, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger" is listed on the Magenträs packaging, just as the spice mill in Glarus produced for decades. In order to make a digestible stomach träs, two points are central: a good mixing ratio and the quality of the spices used. The spice mill has come into new hands. The production takes place in Austria, the distribution from Mollis. The Magenträs is available in three different sizes: in paper bags of 30 grams, in litter cans of 120 grams and in plastic boxes of 800 grams. Incidentally, the paper bags are adorned with the same motif as they were over 100 years ago, when spiced sugar was first produced in the Glarus region.
