Seerenbachfälle und Rinquelle, Betlis
A forest path leads from the village of Betlis to a viewing platform that offers a view of a gigantic water spectacle.
Over the vertical rock face on the north shore of Lake Walen, the Seerenbach with a cascade height of 585 m thunders in several stages to Betlis and joins the water masses of the Rin spring.
The middle of the three cascades of the Seerenbach Falls is one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in the world with a height of 305 meters. All three levels together measure almost 600 meters. The most beautiful way to view the falls is from the chapel in Betlis, from where you have an overview of all three steps.
The Seerenbach Falls can be reached from Betlis in about a 20-minute walk towards Quinten. There is also the possibility to climb to a small viewing platform at the foot of the third cascade. In the gorge, where the waterfalls plunge imposingly into the depths, the Rin spring also comes to light. At the beginning of the 20th century, researchers began to deal with the spring and the cave system, which branched out for miles. About three kilometres from the cave entrance there is a junction where water disappears in the Bergsinnern. Where to? That will probably remain a secret.
