Schächental Bike
The tour along the high alpine hiking track Schächental is a classic amongst bike tours. The fantastic panoramic ride has optimum infrastructure and is peppered with ascents and descents, all situated in lovely countryside.
Passing Bürglen, the hometown of Wilhelm Tell, continue with a gentle ascent on the Klausenpass road through the elongated Schächental. Impressively, the Klausenstrasse cut into the rock along the “Lini” can be seen. At over 400 meters deep, you can see the hamlet of Aesch with the waterfall spraying over 90 meters high.
On the natural surface road over the Schächental ridge trail, you will be inspired by an impressive mountain panorama and beautiful alpine settlements. Don't forget to take a piece of Urner alpine cheese with you from one of the many alpine huts. The following impressive mountain and valley ride with a magnificent view over the Schächen and Reuss valleys will delight you. Steep but short climbs provide variety for your heart rate on this section – and the mountain inns along the route offer a wide range and places to rest. After the idyllic valley basin at Steinselez, there is one last climb to Fleschseeli before you tackle the final treat of this attractive route with a descent via Eggberge and the Altdorf Bannwald.
