Linth-Escher-Auditorium

Collection on the work of Conrad Escher von der Linth (1767–1823)

The Linth-Escher Auditorium is located on the Escher Canal near Näfels in a bunker from the Second World War disguised as an agricultural building. It honours the achievements of Hans Conrad Escher von der Linth (1767–1823), the builder of the Linth Works and one of the first describers of Glarus geology. On the ground floor there is a permanent exhibition in which you can marvel at original documents of the Linth company, tools of hydraulic engineering and a model (1:10,000) of the Linth Works. In the basement there is a lecture room for 30 people with a 3-D photo show. In front of the auditorium, various native stone blocks are deposited and labeled. Guided tours and lectures for interested groups are held during the summer months for a flat fee of CHF 200. Please register at http://www.linth-escher.ch/de/form/info.htm
