Heerweg Weesen-Mühlehorn

Heerweg
Heerweg

In 1570, a ship sank near Walenstadt. Only 14 of the 60 guests survived the accident. Fridolin Heer then built the Heerweg, which starts at the Post in Weesen.

The path starts at the Post in Weesen and leads to the other side of the Linth canal. From there, you walk along Lake Walen to Camping Gäsi. From there, you continue to the flood memorial. Before you go through the former railway tunnel, follow the concrete stairs upwards to the original Heerweg. This varied and wild section of the path runs along the towering rock walls to the Filzbach Gorge and further to the former Lake Walen rest stop. From there, it goes up a few more meters to bypass the hamlet of Tiefenwinkel. Along Lake Walen, it goes comfortably back to Mühlehorn station.
