Gondola / Chairlift Gumen
Sixty years after the first Gumenbahn was put into operation, in December 2007 new, yellow 4-seater gondolas and blue-covered 2-seater chairs heralded the era of the new Gumenbahn in Braunwald.
On the chairs, the passengers sit next to each other at right angles to the direction of travel, as was the case with the old train from 1947. The character and spirit of the historic Gumenbahn is thus preserved and guests can enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama during the ride. This type of combination is unique in the world and guarantees a special kind of driving experience.
In bad weather and night operation, 4-seater gondolas are provided; when fully operational, both gondolas and chairs are used.
Directions
From Linthal with the Braunwald funicular or on foot along the mountain path to Braunwald. From the Braunwald funicular mountain station, first along Oberloochstrasse and later along Hüttenbergstrasse, past the Hüttenberg gondola lift, the Hotel Cristal, to Burstberg. This is where the valley station of the Gumen Kombibahn is located. (Braunwaldbahn - Kombibahn Gumen approx. 15 min.)
Strollers are transported free of charge on the Braunwaldbahn and gondola lifts. From Gumen there are no hiking trails suitable for prams. We recommend the Grotzenbüel, from there there are several hiking trails that can be hiked with a stroller.
