Glattalp pass hike
The mysterious karren fields make this hike an unforgettable experience. From the canton of Glarus to the canton of Schwyz: an interplay of culture and nature.
From the mountain station of the Kombibahn Gumen the path starts gently and only after half an hour does it go “up” towards Bützi (2,155 m above sea level). Here you can take one last look into the Glarus region before marching straight across the largest karren fields in Switzerland to Erigsmatt. The path through the unique karst area with bizarre shapes requires full concentration when walking.
From Erigsmatt, the route continues over alpine pastures, meadows, and along the edge of the karren fields to the Charetalphüttli. Here you cross the valley and take the ascent towards Grossbodenkreuz, Pfaff. From the pass height, the Glattalphütte is visible for the first time.
