Glarus-Rundweg

View from Ennetrösligen towards Glarus and Wiggis.

This tour leads through the smallest capital town, Glarus. The hike is shaped by nature, culture, history and new discoveries. Along the paths of ancient streams, it provides delightful views of the entire Linthe valley from the Tödi to the Linthebene.

Start at Glarus station, go through the underpass and then turn left onto the gravel path. Cross the Linth bridge and climb a staircase after the hairdresser in Ennetbühls. Continue upwards on the road until it turns into a gravel road. Follow this with a slight ascent up to Ennetrösligen. To the south, take the start of the "Grüezi-Weg" and at the first opportunity descend valleywards between the dry stone walls. Then go through Oberdorf to the sports field and the Äugstenbahn. Pass the Büeli retirement home and continue south to the Uschenriet forest restaurant.

Descend from the forest restaurant to the Linth and walk valleywards to the first footbridge. Cross the bridge and ascend to the main road. Go through an underpass to the Horgenberg restaurant. From there the path leads uphill on a forest road. After Brunnenhoschet, turn left towards Schwändi and before Lassigen take the turnoff northwest to the Rütihof restaurant. The path leads at a steady height to the Dreieck ski lift, where it then leads back to the town. Pass the football field and Erlen schoolhouse, then take the stairs to the Zaunschulhaus. Cross the Zaunplatz and return through the Volksgarten to the start and end point of the route at Glarus station.
