Glarner Waldperlen / Tüüffenwald

The app 'Glarner Waldperlen' leads to the most beautiful and wildest forests of the canton of Glarus. The app shows how to get there and on site via GPS provides stories, games, and information. Each forest pearl becomes an experience for young and old with the app.

A near-natural, open spruce forest characterizes the Tüüffenwald forest reserve. The hilly terrain was once shaped by the Linth glacier. Large, heavily branched spruces grow on the ridges. In the hollows, more humid and cooler conditions prevail. There, the protected peat mosses thrive, forming thick cushions and storing large amounts of water in their cells. An impressive view of the forest reserve is offered by the Schönau viewpoint.

Experience the forest reserve

The forest reserve can be explored on foot in five hours from the Auenalp parking lot. The path leads through the forest reserve to the Schönau viewpoint. An alternative is the nearly eight-hour hike from Luchsigen-Hätzingen train station to the mountain station of the Kies-Mettmen cable car. The path is usually accessible between June and October.
