Erlebnis Linthwerk - 3 Themenwege oder Führungen
The lifeline that drained the swampy Linth plain, gave farmers new cultivation areas and brought us all safety against flooding.
The Linthwerk, consisting of the Escher and Linth Canals, can either be explored on 3 hikes or you can take part in one of the 3 guided tours.

As indispensable today as it was 200 years ago and tomorrow more necessary than ever. For people and for their environment.
The Linthwerk
Since 1 January 2004, an intercantonal work, managed by the Linth Commission, managed by the Linth Administration and supervised and maintained by the Linth engineer. A permanent task and a constant challenge. Technically, socially, economically – politically. After 15 years of work, the renovation of the almost 200-year-old Linth Canal was completed in 2013. The impressive history is documented on numerous information boards along the theme trail in an easy-to-understand way.
Linth-Escher Monument and Tulla Monument
The memorials commemorate the two designers Hans Conrad Escher and Johann Gottfried Tulla. The construction of the canal to regulate the Linth and drain the surrounding marshy area significantly improved the living conditions of the local population.
If you want to explore the Linthwerk on your own, orientation boards at the eleven entrances to the Escher and Linth Canal will help and provide information about the infrastructure and sights of the Linthwerk. In addition, they convey the rules that must be observed in order to ensure a harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. Personal responsibility is the top priority. But there are also clear bans, for example bans on entering nature reserves.
At 17 locations between the Kundertriet near Mollis and the Cholriet in the Grynau, information boards point out special features of nature or technology: Why do rare plants feel particularly at home in this place? How was the canal reinforced here for optimal flood protection? Pictures and graphics clearly explain even complex relationships.
Three different tours are offered for groups by appointment.
Further information can be found on the Linthwerk website.
