Circular hike Lake Chüebode
The path leads steeply to the idyllic Lake Chüebode. The descent goes via Pleus and Oberämpächli. Tip: the hunting reserve is the habitat of many different alpine animals.
A great, eventful hike in the oldest game reserve in Europe, the Freiberg Kärpf. At the start, the hike leads through the Riesenwald up to Alp Chunez. The Lake Chüebode, embedded in a hollow, invites the very brave for a refreshing swim and at the same time for a lunch break with a fine picnic from the backpack. From the "Gelber Chopf" we enjoy a wonderful view of the UNESCO World Heritage Tektonikarena Sardona with the Glarus thrust fault – a sharp line – from Piz Sardona to Piz Segnes on the Tschingelhörner with the Martinsloch up to the Hausstock.
If we are lucky, as we are in the oldest, 106 km2 large wildlife sanctuary in Europe, the Freiberg Kärpf, it is quite possible to encounter ibex, chamois, deer, roe deer, ptarmigan, golden eagles, and many other animals on the way.
