Braunwald Panoramaweg
The Braunwald Panorama Trail is a technically easy circular hike. The view over the southern part of the Glarus region with its characteristic Ortstock and Tödi mountains never ceases to impress anew.
From Grotzenbüel, the slightly ascending path leads in about 55 minutes to the Chnügrat (altitude difference approx. 320 metres), where a magnificent view of the Bächi Valley and the Glarus Alps awaits you.
From the Chnügrat you hike in about 20 minutes to the Seblengrat, which is practically at the same altitude. From there it goes through the gallery in the rock (a real natural spectacle in winter!) on to the Gumen.
The Gumen - popular starting point for climbing experiences (via ferratas and climbing garden) offers not only a breathtaking panorama of the Tödi and Ortstock mountains, but also a variety of plants.
Via Ortstockhaus, the path leads slightly downhill in about 1 1/2 hours back to the Grotzenbüel.
Whether it's coffee and cake in the Gumen or Ortstockhaus mountain restaurants, "barbecuing" at one of the open fireplaces or a detour to the fairytale kingdom of the dwarf Bartli (dwarf castle, dwarf cave and gemstone crevice), the panorama trail invites you to linger at various points and is guaranteed to offer an unforgettable hiking experience.
Tip Railway Experience: Shorten the hike with a trip up the Gumen.
Plant protection area: Look out for the edelweiss, fire lilies, white mountain lilies and Turk's bunch, which bloom in July.
