In Venice in the early 18th century, the highly talented violinist Cecilia lives in Venice's largest orphanage, the Ospedale della Pietà. There, particularly talented orphan girls receive a musical education - but only in order to win rich patrons as sponsors for the orphanage with the orchestra. Art has opened Cecilia's mind, but not the doors of the orphanage. Their only way out would be marriage. With the arrival of the new violin teacher, Cecilia's orderly world begins to falter. His name is Antonio Vivaldi.
