A glimpse into the heart of the newly built Limmern hydroelectric power plant

Take a look into the heart of the newly built Limmern hydroelectric power plant. Tours start and end in Tierfehd. Start by taking the funicular to 1700 metres above sea level. Join us 700 metres inside the mountain, through the enormous machine and transformer caverns and the connecting tunnels. Information boards, videos and explanations will tell you interesting facts about this significant hydroelectric power plant.

June - October: Wednesday to Sunday
November - December: Wednesday to Saturday
10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day

Minimum participants: 6, max. 28 persons

Cost: CHF 20 per person, children + young people pay half.

Minimum age: 12 or accompanied by an adult with parental authority from 6 years of age.

Duration: 2.5 hours

Guided tours:
Additionally, we offer three customised tours lasting half an hour longer than the standard tour. For specialists, this involves a comprehensive exploration focusing on one of three themes: technology, construction or environment.

Note:
Most of the tours will be on foot and take place within the mountain. Visitors should be physically fit and equipped with sturdy shoes. Admission is not possible for persons with pacemakers.

Not included in the tour are both the original Limmernsee and the recent Muttsee reservoirs. Visitors to the guided tour can view the dam on Muttenalp via a live webcam.
Public cable cars run from Tierfehd to Chalchtrittli Mountain Station as scheduled. From Chalchtrittli, a 2.5-hour hike leads to the Muttsee.
