Glarusnord Walensee, Glarus, Elm and Braunwald: To and from the valley, uphill and downhill

Between the shores of Walensee and Tödispitze

Heading into the valley from Walensee in the direction of Glarus, journey upwards take in the breathtaking sight of Klöntal crystal clear lake on the right, further up on the left is Aeugsten, a veritable hotspot. Further on, there's skiing in Elm and Braunwald. Before turning back, take the opportunity to enjoy an overnight stay and wake up, awed by the majestic panoramic view of Tschingelhörnern or Tödispitze.

Braunwald

Above the daily hustle and bustle

"Families welcome" is the official motto of car-free Braunwald, which has been awarded the Swiss Tourism Association seal of quality.

Take a trip from Bartli the Dwarf's Adventure Trail to the via ferratas, stopping at the petting zoo, towards the playground, then back to the fairytale Bellevue Hotel. Which also provides you with a brilliant opportunity to hike to Oberblegisee, a must, to see the glittering lake that lies at the foot of the majestic Glärnischwand.

Elm Ferienregion

World Heritage Adventure

In Elm, a UNESCO World Heritage Site meets the oldest game reserve in Europe. The small mountain village connects the Tectonic Arena Sardona, known for Martinsloch, with Freiberg Kärpf. The mountain railways lead directly to adventures such as the Tschinglen Expedition or the Giant Forest Adventure Trail, to wildlife observation stations or mountain carting. You could say "Dr Füüfer und z Weggli", that's Elm for you.

Glarus

The smallest capital

While the town takes just a few minutes to traverse, Glarus is unforgettable. Especially the Vorderglärnisch, which summits at 2327 metres above the town. You might choose the Volksgarten to quench your thirst, observe the Landsgemeinde on the first of May each year or enjoy the Sound of Glarus at the end of August to discover new music. Or perhaps you'll go straight to the Klöntalersee or up to Aeugsten on the other side of the valley.

Glarusnord Walensee

That's how Glarus Nord rolls

With its access to Walensee, Glarus Nord forms the Riviera of Glarnerland. While the Kerenzerberg is home to seminar hotels, down in the valley the linth-arena sgu offers indoor bouldering and climbing, a swimming pool and a skate park. For anyone still looking for more, the Obersee is a must-see.
