Guided tours through the Landesplattenberg Engi

The guided tour of the Landesplattenberg in Engi, an ancient natural slate mine in the Sernftal valley, is a unique experience. Immerse yourself in the magical ambience of the gigantic cavernous halls.

A visit and guided tour of the Landesplattenberg Engi, the old slate mine in the Sernftal valley, is a real experience. Be enchanted by the gigantic underground halls and the magical atmosphere inside the mountain.

Tours begin at the Exhibition Pavilion constructed in 1997, at the entrance to Engi village. Visitors will have 130 metres uphill trek to reach the tunnel entrance. Guests gain a vivid impression of daily life in the slate quarries.

Among numerous activities, a slide show takes you through the excavation of the caverns.
The guided tours are approximately 2.5 hours long, which also includes a slide show.

Tours can also be organised by minibus for people unable to ascend or descend on foot. Sturdy shoes and warm clothing for a visit to the caverns. We provide helmets.
