Glarus Tourism Forum – The Destination Glarus Region in Focus
Schwanden, 8 June 2026 – On Tuesday, 23 June 2026, VISIT Glarnerland will be hosting the eighth Forum for Tourism and Leisure. The event will take place at the Kerenzerberg Sports Centre in Filzbach and will be themed ‘The Glarus Region Destination in Focus’. The programme will include insights into current developments, ideas for the future of tourism, and a new format for direct discussion of key issues affecting the destination.
Thinking ahead together on tourism
What will shape the future of tourism in Glarus? After the welcome address by Manuel Rickenbach, Chairman of the Board of VISIT Glarnerland, and the opening speech by Fritz Staub, Mayor of Glarus Nord, the current projects of VISIT Glarnerland are the focus of attention. A high-profile keynote speech will also take a look at the future of tourism and modern destination management.
Exchange at the heart of the event
In the second part of the forum, the event bridges the gap from theory to practice: the dialogue is the focus of attention. For the first time, the forum will feature moderated discussion rounds in which the participants themselves will take the floor. The three key topics ‘Hotels in the Glarus region,’ ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Attractiveness and future of the destination’ are on the agenda. The new format not only provides a platform for personal exchange, but also for jointly addressing the most pressing challenges and opportunities for tourism in Glarus.
Networking, exchange and enjoyment
After the official closing speech by government councillor Marianne Lienhard, the forum seamlessly transitions into the informal part of the event: from 16:45, the VISIT Glarnerland aperitif provides a space for in-depth discussions and new contacts, accompanied by music from the duo Lanik & Martin Lehmann.
