Braunwald starts the summer season on Auffahrt

Braunwald, 12 May 2026 – The Braunwald Sportbahnen are opening the 2026 summer season with the start of the season on Ascension Day. Despite somewhat less good weather forecasts, the Hüttenberg-Grotzenbüel gondola lift, combined with the rope park, the rental of trottinettes and a brunch in the Chämistube, is already providing a varied mountain experience from the very start.

Kind im Seilpark Braunwald

The Braunwald Sportbahnen are defying the rainy weather forecast and are starting the summer season with the Hüttenberg – Grotzenbüel cable car on the upcoming long Ascension Day weekend. The cable car will be in operation from Thursday, 14 May, to Sunday, 17 May 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The current weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday is more promising and promises pleasant weather for a trip to Braunwald.

Brunch to mark the start of the season

A special highlight: on Saturday, 16 May 2026, a rich brunch with regional specialities will be served in the Chämistube. In a cosy atmosphere and with a wonderful view of the Glarus Alps, guests can enjoyably start the new season. Tickets are available online a sportbahnen-braunwald.ch

The next weekend also sees the opening of the rope park, which offers climbing fun for young and old, and the trottinette hire station on Grotzenbüel for a fast and scenic ride back to the village. The Bartli dwarf adventure trail also invites you to make your first discoveries between Grotzenbüel and the village. If you prefer to enjoy the mountain world at a more leisurely pace, the walking and hiking trails around Grotzenbüel offer the best conditions for a relaxing excursion into nature. Pentecost outlook

On the weekend of 23 to 25 May 2026, the Hüttenberg – Grotzenbüel gondola will also be running, and from Saturday, 6 June 2026, the Gumen combined lift will also be operational. From this date, the Braunwald sports facilities will be open every day until 18 October 2026.
