Braunwald records record number of overnight stays

Braunwald, 6 January 2026 – Braunwald can look back on a successful holiday season. A record number of overnight stays in December, full terraces in the restaurants every day, sold-out events and many satisfied guests have given the village a boost at the start of the year.

In December 2025, the hotels in Braunwald recorded the best results in terms of overnight stays for more than 15 years – partly despite shorter opening hours and the lack of snow. The opening of the new Panoramahotel Braunwald in October 2025,  which has again expanded the range of accommodation in Braunwald, has contributed to this success. The sunny weather and the sea of fog over the valley also benefited the gastronomy, which enjoyed full sun terraces, fully booked evenings and very satisfied guests every day.

Braunwald is a great destination even without snow

All the winter hiking trails were open and offered a wonderful panorama in the bright sunshine. The mountain restaurants and catering establishments in the village, which were open, invited guests to stop off and enjoyed record-breaking sales during the festive period. The lack of snow was soon forgotten by the guests. The Braunwald cableways, which have been transporting guests to the Hüttenberg – Grotzenbüel gondola and the Gumen combined lift in place of skiing and snowboarding with only hiking boots and a backpack, have positive weather forecasts that suggest that snow sports can soon be started in Braunwald.

Seilpark and ski school in high demand

Thanks to the efforts of the Braunwald Ski School, the Hüttenberg children’s ski area was open every day, even without snow, and up to 70 children per day took part in ski and snowboard lessons. The Braunwald ski lifts also offered an attractive programme for guests. The cable park on the Grotzenbüel was brought out of hibernation and put into operation. It proved to be a real crowd-puller and was particularly popular with the younger guests. Additional attractions such as the snowcat tours, the ice rink at the Märchenhotel or horse-drawn carriage rides through the picturesque Braunwald also provided variety.

Sold-out events and satisfied guests

The cultural programme also attracted a great deal of interest. Several events at the BSINTI were sold out over the festive period. The varied guest programme with its various offers was appreciated and used by both holidaymakers and locals alike. The feedback from guests was overwhelmingly positive and Braunwald was able to show its best side even without snow.
