World heritage days TectonicArena Sardona, 13./14. Juni 2026
On Saturday and Sunday, 13 and 14 June 2026, the Tektonikarena Sardona is hosting the National World Heritage Days around the visitor pavilion near the Segneshütte. Visitors can take part in free guided tours led by GeoGuides, explore the pavilion and win attractive prizes in a competition.
Every second weekend in June, Switzerland’s UNESCO World Heritage sites open their doors to the public. This weekend, the Sardona Tectonic Arena also offers visitors the chance to experience first-hand why it ranks among the world’s most significant natural sites: nowhere else on Earth are the features of mountain formation as clearly and impressively visible as here.
Along the Glarus Main Thrust, rocks dating back 250 to 300 million years lie atop significantly younger strata. This ‘magic line’ characterises the Tschingelhörner and provides a striking illustration of how the Alps were formed. Around Martinsloch and the Segnesböden, this geological feature blends with a stunning high-alpine landscape.
World Heritage Days invite locals and visitors alike to rediscover this landscape with expert guidance, whether on short guided tours, during a visit to the visitor pavilion, or in conversation with the GeoGuides. The aim is to highlight the exceptional significance of the World Heritage Site and to foster a greater appreciation for this unique natural landscape.
