Winter hiking in Braunwald
►Winter hike village - Grotzenbüel, approx. 1h
The path leads from the station of the Braunwaldbahn through the idyllic village centre to the Schwettiberg (approx. 30 minutes). From there it leads on a pleasant incline to the Grotzenbüel (another 30 minutes), where the Chämistube mountain restaurant with a beautiful sun terrace is located. The path is well pathed and leads through short stretches of forest with a constant view of the Alpine panorama.
The return journey takes the gondola from Grotzenbüel to Braunwald. If you prefer to add some speed to the hike, you can combine this with a sleigh ride. Toboggans can be rented at the Grotzenbüel mountain station.
The path can be ideally done as a circular hike. Below the Chämistube mountain restaurant (to the left of the start of the toboggan run) there is a paved path back to the village. You can reach the mountain station in about 45 minutes.
► Snowshoe trail Grotzenbüel - Seblengrat

Seblengrat - Chnügrat - Grotzenbüel, approx. 1h 30 min
The hike starts at the Grotzenbüel mountain station (1559 m above sea level) in the middle of the ski area (accessible with the Hüttenberg-Grotzenbüel gondola lift).
The winter hiking trail leads through sparse fir forests up to the "Chnügrat" viewpoint. The higher, the more open the Glarus summit panorama is with the Ortstock, Braunwald's local mountain, and the mighty Tödi (3614 m above sea level).
Spectacular: the sight of the deepest valley cut in Switzerland; because there are almost 3000 meters of altitude difference between the highest Glarus and the village of Linthal. The route follows the ridge ridge to the Seblengrat (1895 m above sea level) to the rustic mountain restaurant "Skibeiz Seblengrat".
