Snowshoe tour Längenegg Pass

Longer, lonely tour in the quiet and snow-sure Oberseetal, Näfels

Meeting point: 09:00 a.m. at the Berghotel Obersee Näfels

If you arrive by car, you need good winter equipment on the steep, narrow Oberseestrasse. Most of the time you can drive to the Berghotel Obersee, sometimes to the back of the lake to the Stafelbrücke. You can travel to Näfels by train and organise Armin Fischli's on-demand bus +41 55 612 10 72

At the beginning we walk leisurely uphill to the holiday home settlement Sulzboden, then a little steeper up to the few holiday homes in Sulz. Above the Stäfeli it continues to the Lachenalp and finally quite steeply up to the Längenegg Pass. The area is wildly romantic with the imposing rock faces to the west and the rolling hills along the route. Here we have a good chance of creating our own track in the upper part and can really enjoy the solitude. The way back is along the ascent route with various options for shortcuts.

At the start at the Stafelbrücke, the tour is shortened by 3 km. After the long tour, we can fortify ourselves wonderfully in the cozy Aeschen mountain restaurant on Oberseestrasse.

Route: Obersee - Sulzboden - Sulz - Lachenalp - Längenegg Pass and back again.

Length: 18.3km (15.3km), 832m ascent and descent, 6 hours
