Snowshoe full moon tour Melchterli, Morgenholz

Moderately difficult tour into the evening, with fondue fun

The Niederurner Täli is a lonely but magical area in winter because it is so untouched and deserted. Almost like pioneers, we trudge through the snow-covered valley, enjoy the peace and quiet and cross a wide variety of animal tracks. At the Blockhaus in Mettmenriet there is a first rest. Later, on the Melchterli, we enjoy the view of the Linth plain and the Schwyz Alps. After a small loop, we reach the Hirzli mountain restaurant on the way back, where we enjoy a delicious fondue in the cosy warmth. The full moon then lights up the way back to the mountain station.

Route: Morgenholz – Herrenberg – Tierweg – Mettmen – Blossenalp – Melchterli - Mettmen – Alpheu – Bodenberg – Morgenholz

Length 9.5 km, ascent and descent 620 m, 5 hours walking time (leisurely)
