Sernftalbahn-Museum

The museum opens on 30.12.25 and 03.01.2026 exceptionally from 13.30 to 17.00 (otherwise it opens in winter for groups on request).
Discover the Sernf Valley Railway (1905–1969): The museum revives the small big railway. The two carefully restored red-glowing railcars are the eye-catcher at the former Elm station.

"Bähndli" was the affectionate name given to the Sernftalbahn by the inhabitants of the valley. The exhibition "A Mountain Valley in Motion" in the former station building tells the story and stories of the intimate relationship between the people in the valley and the small railway, which meant the connection to the big world for them. Powerful forces of nature such as avalanches, floods and storms shaped the operation of the Sernf Valley Railway. Audio stations, original objects, model railways, documents, plans and photographs illustrate the railway atmosphere in the Chly Valley at that time.

On a walk through the station grounds, you can discover further testimonies from the 60-year history of the Sernf Valley Railway.

The popular SeTB garden railway for "young and old" only makes its rounds on the grounds of the museum complex in dry weather. Fun for the whole family!
