Pfadiheim Syte

The Syte Scout Home is located at an altitude of 490 m, in Niederurnen at the entrance to the Glarus region. The small wooden and stone house does not offer all the comforts, but it is very cozy and original!

The home is about 1 km from the village center and can be reached by road. The distance from the SBB train station Nieder- und Oberurnen is approx. 2 km, from the bus stop "Friedhof" approx. 900 m. The parking lot is about 200 m below the home, but for the transport of goods it is allowed to drive on the driving ban for one vehicle.

Equipment: The home is not subdivided, the kitchen is visually separated from the lounge by a work surface. The sleeping places are located in the lounge. The recreation room also serves as a dining room. Kitchen: The kitchen was installed in January 2008. Glass-ceramic hobs, oven, running hot and cold water, large work surfaces and enough storage space for supplies characterize the kitchen. Sleeping places: Dormitory for max. 12 people, divided into two floors. Fitted sheets are available, sleeping bag necessary. Lounge: Space for approx. 20 people, large fireplace, electric light, heating by means of a circulating air fireplace. Wood: firewood is available for a fee; in summer, firewood can be searched for in the forest around the home. Home grounds: fireplace with crank grill and seats, seating in the east, large forecourt. In the area small gorge with stream, waterfall, rocks, meadow, forest and Vita Parcour. Leisure: Swimming: Linthárena sports centre in Näfels, Gäsi lido on Lake Walen; Hiking: Cable car to the Niederurnertal, sculpture trail and fireplace with large playground, starting point for hikes to the Hirzli, Plankenstock, Fridlispitz or into the Wägital. Skiing: Im Niederurnertal (1 ski lift), Filzbach, Amden, Müllern, Flumserberg, Elm, Braunwald.
