Loipe Engi–Matt
Along the historic Suworowweg, you glide leisurely from Matt to Engi. The easy route enjoys many hours of sunshine and is characterized by its regular terrain.
There is a bus stop at the entrance in Matt, and there are parking spaces at the Matter church. It is the oldest surviving church in the Glarus region. Before you start, it's worth taking a look at the late Gothic wooden ceiling inside.
From Matt, the trail leads along the Sernf River to Engi. On the left side of the valley stretches the Freiberg Kärpf. The ibex, marmots and golden eagles that populate Europe's oldest wildlife sanctuary can only be guessed at from the valley. Along the forest, the trail leads back to Matt, where the Matt-Weissenberge cable car is located. It takes guests and tired cross-country skiers to relax on the sun terrace of the Sernft Valley.
