Glarus economic-archive

Discover the fascinating industrial history of the Glarus region in the Glarus Economic Archive! The archive collects and researches valuable testimonies from the region and makes them accessible to everyone.

Founded in 2002, the archive has established itself as the most important point of contact for everything to do with the industrial development of the Glarus region. Here you will find valuable contemporary witnesses, including the archives of 13 Glarus companies, the private archive of Rolf von Arx and the correspondence of the "Little Colonel" Johann Ulrich Blumer and his family.

With a clear online catalogue, researchers, students and all interested parties have free access to the documents. The originals can be viewed on site in a unique ambience of the former textile printing company F. Blumer & Cie. Visit us in the old stave factory and paint kitchen, which not only houses work and archive rooms, but also serves as an exhibition space. The impressive hall in the Hänggiturm also offers space for public and private events.
