Geo-Stadtspaziergang Glarus
"Experience geology" sounds like mountaineering and scrambling. It doesn't have to be that way. On a leisurely walk through Glarus, a geological phenomenon awaits you on almost every corner of the house: petrified spiral snails or brachiopods from the dinosaur era in the town hall fountain, stone slabs full of oysters from nearby Wiggis as a base plate of a house façade. You can even get to know a shark in the middle of Glarus: in a window frame carved out of shell limestone, you can count shark teeth at your leisure. Ask for the brochure 'Fountain Trough and Shark's Tooth', the guide to sixteen geologically important building blocks in Glarus.
Start/end point is the Glarus Visitor Centre of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona (in the Glarus Nature Centre in the Glarus railway station building).
