Forest reserve Wissrisi-Lauben

The Wissrisi-Lauben forest reserve is characterised by limestone cliffs, scree slopes and dry forests.

Beech trees grow in the lower area, spruce and mountain pines further up. The dwarf boxwood spruce forest, which is rare in the canton of Glarus, occurs here and sunny forest clearings are the habitat of various orchids.

Experience the forest reserve

The Wissrisi-Lauben forest reserve is not accessible. On the hiking trails from Ennenda towards Aeugsten or Girenchopf there are beautiful views of the forest reserve. The forest reserve is located in the Schilt Federal Wildlife Conservation Area and in a wildlife rest zone. The adjacent, higher-altitude Äugstenwald-Holzfluh forest reserve is accessible by a hiking trail. The Äugstenbahn takes you from Ennenda to its vicinity in a few minutes.
