Forest reserve Tüüffenwald

Hike through a structurally rich, loosened spruce forest

A near-natural, loose spruce forest characterises the Tüüffenwald forest reserve. The humped terrain was once formed by the Linth Glacier. Large, heavily beastly spruce trees grow on hilltops. In the hollows, wetter and cooler conditions prevail. The protected peat mosses thrive there, forming thick cushions and storing large amounts of water in their cells. An impressive view of the forest reserve is offered by the Schönau viewpoint.

Experience the forest reserve

The forest reserve can be explored on foot from the Auenalp car park in five hours. The path leads through the forest reserve to the Schönau viewpoint. An alternative is the almost eight-hour hike from Luchsigen-Hätzingen station to the mountain station of the Kies-Mettmen cable car. The trail is usually accessible between June and October.
