Dinosaur Tracks on the Tödi

An experience for both young and old! Step into the 230 million year old footprints of the dinosaurs!
Not far from the mountain trail between the Linth valley and the Planura Hut, below the Sandfirn at an altitude of 2300 m.a.s.l., more than 200 depressions were found on a Rötidolomite stone slab in 2001. These were left behind by a group of archosaurs around 230 million years ago in the Triassic period on the tropical coast of the Glarus region. The so-called chirotheroid tracks are among the oldest vertebrate tracks in Switzerland and can be assigned to thecodonts, the ancestors of crocodiles and dinosaurs.
