Clariden- und Hüfifirn

The Tödi area is impressive with its valley cut of 3000 meters - and anyone who discovers the area behind it will also remember it as fascinating.
The Clariden and Hüfifirn are particularly popular for glacier trekking to the Planura Hut (2947 m above sea level, the highest SAC hut in Eastern Switzerland) or for mountain tours such as the Clariden, the Schärhorn and the Chammliberg. From the Planura Hut, the ambitious mountaineers climb the west face up to the highest Glarus mountain, the Tödi. The Claridenhütte at the foot of the glacier is also a popular destination, which can be reached from Hintersand or Urnerboden. The Claridenhütte is also ideal for families who go on a 1- or 2-day mountain tour. If you start from Tierfed, you can take the path to the Planura Hut via the Fridolinshütte under your feet.
The largest wind pool in Europe is located right next to the Planura Hut. This "arc" in the glacier, which forms around a rock like a funnel or cauldron, is created by strong wind activity. An absolute sight at 3000 meters above sea level.
The glacier stretches towards the Maderanertal (canton of Uri), where the Hüfihütte SAC (2334 m above sea level) is located not far from the glacier tongue of the Hüfifirn.
Glacier trekking or tours that are made over the glacier are only recommended with the company of a mountain guide or in a group with people who know the area.
