Circular walk Firstboden (Expedition Tschinglen)

The expedition is a journey of discovery right in the middle of the Sardona World Heritage Site. The highlight is the Firstboden at 1,750 m above sea level, with the special roundwood construction, the thrust fault viewpoint.

The Tschinglen expedition leads directly into the UNESCO World Heritage Tektonikarena Sardona to the wild-romantic alp with its original flora and an impressive mountain world. The cable car takes the hiker partly over 200 meters above the impressive Tschinglen gorge to the Tschinglen Alp.  Once at the top, the landscape changes. Babbling mountain streams, roaring waterfalls, lush mountain meadows, as well as several old wooden stalls with the cosy mountain inn await.

The highlight is surely the Firstboden. From there you enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the Sernftal and the Tschinglen peaks with the Martinsloch, as well as the clear lines of the Glarus main thrust fault. A firepit and a roundwood construction with the thrust fault view invite you to linger.

The return path leads above the Elm rockslide back to the Tschinglen Alp. Some parts require a surefootedness. Return by foot down the Tschinglen gorge to Elm.
