Circular hike Oberstafel-Börtli

A pleasant circular hike in the oldest wildlife sanctuary in Europe, the Freiberg Kärpf, where with some luck you can come into close contact with various wild animals.

Enjoy a relaxed ride with the aerial cableway up to the Mettmen Alp. After a short ascent, you reach the Garichti reservoir, which invites you to swim on warm days. Then follow the lakeshore and continue along the path to the Oberstafel Alp. You will be accompanied by a beautiful panoramic view towards the lowlands.

Once arrived at the Oberstafel Alp, you can make a short detour to the Kärpf Bridge. This impressive natural bridge can even be crossed at low water levels.

Now it is time to return to Mettmen. On a mountain path, you hike above the Garichti reservoir via Bortli back to the mountain station.

Since the hike passes through the Freiberg Kärpf wildlife sanctuary, it is quite possible that you will encounter various wild animals along the way.
