Cheese Pass - Alp Nideren-Mettmen
The Alp Nideren-Mettmen is located in the middle of the hiking area of the Mettmenalp. With the Kies–Mettmen cable car (daily in the summer season, 055 644 20 10), you can go up to Mettmen.
On foot, it goes past the beautiful Garichti reservoir, following the hiking trail to the Leglerhütte, up to the beautiful floor of the Nideren Alp (1850 m above sea level). The hiking trail leads between the hut and the stable. And there you will also find the Käsepass cheese box and the small alp tavern, which is open from around mid-July to mid-August in good weather. Not far is the natural rock gate, the Chärpfbrugg.
The most beautiful hikes to Alp Nideren-Mettmen:
• As described above via Schwanden / Kies-Mettmen.
• Those who want to go further up can continue hiking to Elm via Wildmadfurggeli / Wildmad. On this route, you pass the next Käsepass alp Empächli. And the second stamp in the pass is secured.
