Cheese Pass - Alp Empächli
The Empächli Alp is located high above Elm on the valley side of the Elm sports lifts. From the mountain station of the gondola lift, follow left along the alp road to the alpine huts of Unterstäfel.
At Jörg Rhyner, the herdsman of the Hintere Sennte, the Cheese Pass stamp can also be found. There is also a stamp at Oberstafel, which is located right next to the Munggä Hüttä. The rustic ski restaurant is well known to many skiers. A hike from Empächli-Oberstafel further over Pleus and Wildmad/Wildmadfurggeli to the Legler hut / Mettmen is wonderful.
The most beautiful hikes to Alp Ämpächli:
• From Elm, take the gondola lift of the Elm sports lifts up to Ämpächli – but the alp is still a short walk to the left. Here the Cheese Pass box is already at Unterstafel.
• For those who want to go further up, you can go via Oberstafel (where there is also a box) and Pleus / Wildmad to Mettmen. If you want to stay overnight at the Berghotel Mettmen or at the Naturfreundehaus Mettmen, you can conveniently stamp the next day at Alp Nideren-Mettmen.
