Holidays in a 400-year-old Glarus house

The Brugghus is located in the middle of the village center of Rüti.

The apartment is in the right part of the house. It has a separate entrance and its own garden seating area. On the ground floor there is a bathroom, kitchen and living room. A staircase leads to the bedroom on the upper floor. It is furnished with two single beds. A second bedroom is accessible through the first. The part of the house was completely renovated in 2019/20.

The space

The bridge that gives the house its name was the rearmost bridge in the valley 400 years ago. Anyone who came over the Klausen Pass at that time had to cross this bridge to get to Glarus. After the bridge, the path led directly through the Brugghus. Today's house corridor was a cart path at that time. in the middle of the house there was an open fireplace, the traces of which can still be seen today. Anyone who wanted to go further had to pay their bridge toll here. The apartment was completely renovated by us in 2019 / 20. With a lot of heart and soul and attention to detail, we have brought out the old substance again and found and invented new ones.

Other things to note

Summer and autumn: Rüti is ideal as a starting point for hikes, mountain and alpine tours. Cycling enthusiasts can look forward to leisurely tours through the valley, numerous almost car-free alpine roads and strenuous trails through steep terrain. Various mountain railways make the ascent easier for those who prefer it effortless. Idyllic mountain lakes and cosy mountain pubs invite you to linger in many places.

Winter: For lovers of the slopes, the Braunwald ski area is in the immediate vicinity (valley station 2 km from the house). For individualists, Rüti is the ideal starting point for ski tours and high-altitude ski tours. The Töditritt cross-country ski trail leads directly past the village (approx. 300m from the house). Numerous winter hiking trails and snowshoe trails lead criss-cross over the mountain and through the valley.
