Artillerie-Festung Niederberg

One of the cannons
One of the cannons
Adventurous guided tour through the historic artillery fort Niederberg in Näfels.

Here it looks as if the last soldier had just left the fortress half an hour ago. The air is cool, the corridors damp and sparsely lit. The dimensions and ingenuity of this defensive structure are inspiring: 400 meters long, the corridors lead through the mountain and connect the various rooms, which were built as individual houses. In 1941, the Niederberg artillery fortress in Näfels in Glarus was built into the mountain in just one year. The facility, which once offered 170 soldiers defense space, is able to impress. During the tour, visitors make their way into a piece of military history, which is conveyed vividly and vividly by the guides.
