Approach to Planurahütte
The only route without glacier crossing leads from Linthal Tierfed over Hintersand - Obersand to the Planurahütte. The long ascent is rewarded with a magnificent view over the Claridenfirn and the unique wind hollow at the Planurahütte.
Long, rocky ascent in the high mountains, choose your equipment accordingly. From 2500 m.a.s.l., snowfields must be crossed throughout the summer. Exposed sections are equipped with chains.
Plan the tour at home, study the topographic map and weather report. The times indicated are pure marching times. These can vary greatly depending on personal fitness.
The ascent can be shortened by almost 2 hours with the Alpentaxi Vollenweider (079 770 34 86) up to Hintersand.
