The Glarus region is known for its Glarus Schabziger made from Glarus mountain milk. The Zigerstöckli is a childhood memory and still a local speciality today – far beyond the canton's borders.

Hiking guide Ueli Schlittler takes you to the old craft of Zigern on the alp in the Oberseetal. He offers guided hikes on three different routes to the Rautialp, to the Oberseetal, Näfels GL - where there is no zigeret.

Alprohziger used to be produced on many Glarus Alps. The traditional craft gradually disappeared because the demands were constantly increasing. Siegfried and Myrtha Fischli–Good from Alp Obersee–Rauti, Sennte Änziunen, stick to this craft. They are the only ones in the Glarus region that still produce Alprohziger – in rustic craftsmanship – and enrich this delicacy with salt and ziger clover themselves. The only Alpziger from Obersee-Rauti Änziunen is marketed directly by them. (180g tub).

Guided hike with a visit to the alpine alpine dairy and prize-juchzer Siegfried Fischli, who tells us about his ancient craft. Incl. aperitif with a fine platter with decorated Zigerbrütli and/or alpine cheese from the Rautialp, pear bread (excl. drinks).

South of the Obersee, the trail climbs moderately steeply up to the Grapplialp and continues directly to the Rautialp. There, the alpine dairyman Siegfried Fischli and his wife Myrtha await us. While Siegfried gives us a look at the Zigerchessi and tells us something about his traditional craft with justified pride, Myrtha prepares us a fine platter with lovingly decorated Zigerbrütli and delicious alpine cheese from the Rautialp. If you feel like it and have space in your backpack, you can buy cheese and various Ziger products here. Freshly strengthened, we return to the idyllic Obersee on the same path, where we can end the Zigertour in the excellent Obersee mountain restaurant.
