Braunwald Via Ferratas Launch Summer Season

Preparations are complete: the Braunwald Via Ferratas are set up and open for climbing again. This officially marks the start of the popular Via Ferrata season at the Eggstöcke peaks.

Anyone planning a trip in the coming days should note that the Gumen Combo Cable Car will only be operating daily from 6 June 2026. Until then, the Via Ferratas are only accessible on foot. The hike to the start of the Via Ferrata currently takes about 2.5 hours, and the return journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the route.

There are also changes to the equipment rental: Kessler Rental will start renting equipment on 6 June 2026 and will be open daily when the weather is good.

The rental is now exclusively located in the village at Kessler Sport. There are no longer any rental stations at the Berggasthaus Gumen or at the ski school in Hüttenberg.

The Via Ferratas at the Eggstöcke peaks have been among the most famous of their kind in Switzerland for years. The spectacular ‘Charlotte Bridge’ in particular attracts numerous mountaineers to Braunwald every summer.
